Have you seen our Kit Kat ads on TV?

Something to try when you have A LOT of spare time on your hands.

Brilliant, addictive viewing!

When we first heard about this movie, it sounded kind of dull – a movie about the rise of Facebook? *yawn*

But the trailer makes it look pretty interesting, and the cast looks impressive too. Some of the stars include: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Brenda Song,  Rashida Jones, Max Minghella, Rooney Mara, and Joseph Mazzello.

The film’s soundtrack is being scored by Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails fame) and Atticus Ross.

What do you think? Will you go to see a movie about Facebook?

Find out more at the official movie site or on Wikipedia.

Is this the motion picture event of a generation?

Check out the highlights from Desk Jockey’s final week! Working like a machine so you don’t have to.

Here’s one to get your weekend off to a great start, Kit Kat Muffins.

Use any regular muffin recipe, or even a store bought back mix. Follow the instructions, and once you have the muffin mix in the baking pan, break Kit Kats into pieces no bigger than 2cm each and submerge them in the muffin mix. Try it with all the different Kit Kat flavours for variety: Cookies and Cream or Caramel Chunkies or white chocolate are absolutely delicious.

ENJOY!

According to the ever-trustworthy Wikipedia, today is Waterloo Day.
The Battle of Waterloo leads to Napoleon Bonaparte abdicating the throne of France for the second and last time.
To celebrate this occasion, we wanted to share this re-enactment of the Battle of Waterloo that the Kit Kat Desk Jockey did using Kit Kats vs Chokito’s.

Amazing art

Check out the amazing work of some sidewalk artists in Surfers Paradise recently.

You can see more on the Chalk the Walk site.

If you, like me, expected to be travelling about in Jetson’s-style hovercraft and having meals in pill form by now, you’ll likely be impressed with this futuristic aircraft design by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

This aircraft is quieter and 70% more fuel-efficient than those currently in the skies.

How about a bit of last minute tranquility on a Sunday evening before heading back to the Rat Race?
They say a picture says a thousand words, but these have me
lost for words…

More pics and and explanations of the phenomena can be found on Road Tickle.

Not too much to say about this one, except that it is pure brilliance!

Take time back by making use of Egg Watchers. If you’re like me, you can never cook your eggs just right, this will be a big help. Egg Watchers helps you choose how long you need to cook an egg based on its size, if it’s refrigerated or not and your idea boiled egg. It then serves up a YouTube video to entertain you for the length of time it takes your egg to cook. Give it a try.

Iron Man 2 Trailer

May 1st, 2010

Iron Man 2 is FINALLY in cinemas. I think it’ll be the movie to watch this weekend.

Okay Gleeks, I bet you’re loving your favourite show being back on the small screen. Babble recently published a great photo gallery of celebrities they think should be on Glee. Their top 10 celebrs for Glee are:
1. Britney Spears
2. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
3. Kristen Bell
4. Zac Efron
5. Victoria Beckham
6. Justin Timberlake
7. Amy Adams
8. Beyonce Knowles
9. James Marsden
10. Taylor Swift

Do you agree of disagree with any of their suggestions? Who would you love to see on Glee and what role would they play?

Step aside Harry Potter,  your magic wand and broomstick are no match for the Tape Measure master. Fetch your keys,  open doors, change the radio station. Is there anything this man can’t do with a tape measure?  Next time someone asks you if you know the number of a good tradesman, you know who to call.

Look, we all know 2009 was a bad year for banks and the economy in general but Darth Vader and his Storm Troopers ringing the opening bell on Wall Street? Random! Anyone know the story behind this?

This post is dedicated to hardcore soccer fans. Since April 2009, a manufacturing facility has been churning out 1760 balls a day in preparation for the World Cup in South Africa. The entire manufacturing process is captured on film, and while it may seem a bit nerdy it is a pretty impressive process.

Dylan Longbottom takes on a 12 foot monster barrel in a super slow motion video that is nothing short of mesmerizing.  I’ve discovered that the BBC has a YouTube channel chock-full of HD content that’ll fill even the longest break.  Post anything you find interesting in the comments below.

Swedish electronic band Rymdreglage created a music video that features a staggering 1500 hours of stop motion footage of Lego bricks. The end result is pretty funky.

Put this in the wow file. During the height of the Cold War in the 1950’s, the British government built a 35 acre underground city called Burlington for government officials in the event of a nuclear war. The BBC has an fascinating photo and video tour of this hidden city, whose existence only became public knowledge when it was declassified in 2005 and put up for sale. Designed to be a self contained city for the continuation of government, it included it’s own telephone exchange and television studio.

Well sort of. Check out the above video which uses Google Earth to simulate what a car chase would look like from a satellite. It reminds me of that film Enemy Of The State where Will Smith is hunted down by an array of high tech spy stuff.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have a play with an iPad and I’ve got to say my favorite application is a Pinball game called – funnily enough – Pinball HD! It costs a few bucks but it’s a great way to kill time on the bus or train home. The 3D graphics are stunning and the sound effects are incredibly realistic. It’s like having a mini pinball machine in your pocket! Have you an iPhone or iPad app recommendation? Let me know in the comments.

While Richard Branson is doing his best to make space flight affordable, a group of scientists have been creating a street directory that maps the universe as we know it. Using photos from a collection of space telescopes, they’ve created a stunning animation that when played in fullscreen HD makes you feel like Captain Kirk. Mr Zulu, take us to warp speed.
